Privacy Policy
Your Privacy, Treated With Dignity
Protecting life in its most fragile moments. Protecting your information too.
At Save The Light, we believe that dignity and respect apply to personal information just as they apply to the people we hope to serve. This policy explains what we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who we are
Save The Light is a humanitarian organization that is preparing its first initiatives to protect vulnerable mothers, newborns, children, women, and families. This website is savethelightglobal.org. When we say “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy, we mean Save The Light.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@savethelightglobal.org.
Our commitment
Our work is guided by compassion, dignity, confidentiality, and accountability. We apply the same values to your information:
- We collect only what we need, and nothing more.
- We use your details only for the reasons we explain here.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We are open about what we do and honest when something changes.
What we collect
Information you send us
When you use our contact form, we receive the details you type in: your name, your email address, the subject you choose (for example volunteering, partnership, or material contributions), your message, and your confirmation that you agree to our using these details to reply. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.
Please do not send sensitive information, such as health details, through the contact form. If you need to share something sensitive, tell us first and we will agree a safe way to do it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting service records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. We use this to keep the site secure and working properly.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you choose a language with the language selector, the translation tool may store a small cookie to remember your choice. If we add visitor statistics or any other cookies in the future, we will update this policy.
How we use your information
- To reply to your message and answer your questions.
- To follow up on offers to volunteer, partner with us, share expertise, or contribute supplies, and to coordinate them safely.
- To keep simple records of those conversations so that we can be accountable and consistent.
- To keep the website secure and to meet any legal obligations.
We will not add you to a mailing list or send you promotional messages unless you clearly ask us to.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent, for example when you tick the box on our form, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website and responding to people who contact us.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with trusted services that help us run the website and receive your messages, such as our web host and email provider, and only so far as they need it to do that job.
Translation: the website offers automatic translation through a third-party service (GTranslate, which uses Google Translate). When you choose another language, the text of the page you are viewing is processed by that service, which has its own privacy policy.
Links to other websites: our pages link to other sites, such as Instagram. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or if it is needed to protect someone’s safety.
Where your information is processed
Our service providers may process information in other countries. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is treated with appropriate care.
How long we keep it
We keep your messages only for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a reasonable record of our relationship with you. When we no longer need them, we delete them or remove the personal details.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and limiting access to the people who need it. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep this in mind when deciding what to send.
The people we serve
Protecting the privacy and dignity of people who receive assistance is central to our mission. This website is not used to collect information about the people we hope to support. As our programs develop, we will handle any such information confidentially, with care for safeguarding, and only with appropriate consent.
We will not publish photographs, names, or stories that identify the people we serve without their informed consent, or the consent of a parent or guardian for a child.
Children
This website is for adults and is not directed at children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Donations
Online donations are not yet available. When we introduce them, payments will be handled by a secure payment provider, we will not store your full card details on this website, and we will update this policy before donations open.
Your rights
Under applicable data protection laws you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, or to limit how we use it;
- object to our use of your information, or withdraw your consent at any time;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, write to contact@savethelightglobal.org. We may need to check who you are before acting on a request, and we will reply as soon as we reasonably can.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our work grows, for example when we open donations. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. We encourage you to check it from time to time.
